The Spring into Fashion Show is scheduled for Saturday, May 17. No tickets will be sold at the door. See “Fashion Show” for more information.
The Beautification Committee is hard at work preparing for an “after Memorial Day” flower planting. New dirt is in the big pots located up and down the I-75 Business Loop, and more flowers will be in them this year. Various businesses will be “adopting” some of the small gardens also located on the Business Loop.
The “Shop Grayling First” cards will be available shortly, and is full of special deals and discounts for many Grayling businesses. They’re a great bargain at $25 each. All proceeds go to support GPA projects.
GPA is celebrating its 31st year in operation! Here’s a poem written by Betty Bennett, one of GPA’s long-time members:
There aren’t many left of the women who started
Those wonderful gals are among the departed.
But thru 31 years our goals are the same
That’s the name of the game.
Our projects are many
They’ve changed thru the years
From cookbooks and baseball
From Notecards to Cheers
We’ve put on parades and
We’ve put on a show
We’ve celebrated Christmas
At the HUP Race we row
We’ve added new members
They all have a part
They’re eager and willing
They really have heart
Happy Birthday to us –
To all GPA!
We’re a wonderful group
And we’re here to stay.
